What is CCTV monitoring?

CCTV monitoring is when a control centre (also called a remote monitoring station) observes the activity of a property or premises through the use of surveillance cameras. Skilled operators will have access to the site’s own security system and sometimes be able to move the cameras too.

If there is any unusual activity such as trespassing or a break-in, the control centre will act immediately by contacting the site’s keyholder, security personnel, or the authorities.

The 24/7 nature of CCTV monitoring means that your business can benefit from a round-the-clock security solution. You can also rest assured that any threats to your property or premises will be dealt with swiftly.

The need for CCTV monitoring in Essex

Analysis of two million home insurance quotes by comparison website MoneySuperMarket found that many parts of Essex and London are among the most burgled in the UK, with only three postcodes in the top 20 areas outside of the southeast of England.

Matters aren’t helped by the fact that Essex Police recently announced it wanted to cut the number of PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers) from 251 to 60 across the country. The force also suggested that 15 police stations would close, making 62 staff redundant and severely reducing the opening hours of the remaining 10.

With fewer officers patrolling the streets and reduced manpower in police stations, there is a now a greater need for businesses to adopt CCTV monitoring in Essex.
